Groundhog's Day

Phil Connors plays a weather man who is trapped in groundhogs day, every day he wakes up he is forced to re-live the same events of groundhogs day every day, Phil develops a strong sense of the meaning of his life throughout the film.

I feel that phil connors thoughout the entire film went through stages in order to realize the meaning of his life, at first it was a little strange to him and he had a hard time figuring out why the day kept repeating but he started to have a little fun with it and seeing how his actions would affect the day differently each day it repeated. Phil starts to grow tired of reliving the same exact day every single day and he wants nothing more than to kill himself which he does try doing multiple times in all very different ways. At the beggining of the film he was kindof bossy and cocky and nobody really warmed up to him because of that but as the film progressed he focused more and more on being a nice guy and making everyone in the little town like him and that became important to him. Phil also starts to fall in love with his coworker and tries all different ways to woo her but he knows it wont matter because she'll forget all about it in the morning. To me phil realized the meaning of his life was to fall in love with this women and make her love him too. and as soon as she does love him the curse of reliving groundhogs day is completely broken and he can go on living with the love of his life and that to me is what the movie was all about.

Whale Rider

My opinion on the whale rider is both good and bad, The story of the maori tribe and what their traditions are were very interesting to me. Especially the kind of right of passage for the young men to be the leader by finding the grandfathers whale tooth necklace was very interesting to me. What i didnt like about the film was the ending in particular i thought they did a horrible job with it, how Paikea just drown on the back of a whale and then they miraculously found her in the ocean killed it for me. I do like that her grandfather finally accepted her as their cultures savior because how she was treated by him the whole story made me mad at parts. That is my opinion on The whale rider.

The horse dealers daughter(Baptism)

In the story The horse dealers daughter there is a strong symbol of baptism when one of the characters named Mable slowly walks into a pond completely submerging herself and is under there for several minutes. She is then saved by the main character of the story Dr. Ferguson who he himself cannot swim and after he struggles to get her out of the pond and finally saves her she comes up out of the water symbolizing baptism. This symbolizes baptism because she comes up out of the water a new person, not literally but i think metaphorically she feels she is a better person after this expierence.
